What matters in introduction in the mainstream. Parkour isn't mainstream, but it's been introduced everywhere with the same term so it's stuck. But it might would change if it became a competitive sport and became more mainstream. Who knows.
E-readers aren't mainstream and have been introduced with various terms--and in America it's mainly be introduced as a brand name. People see e-readers of whatever brand here and often ask "Is that a Kindle (or iPad lately!)" much like they ask for a "Kleenex" when needing a tissue!
Again, I have no problem with people playing their game on here and trying to use the term. But it will never catch on in the mainstream--especially in English speaking areas. Remember the "freedom" fries thing in the US. There's a ton of anti-French resentment in the US, the UK etc. so on top of being a foreign word, the fact that it's French will hurt it's adoption with many.
