The Sharpe Series is great. Read them as he wrote them. If you read them by published date the early ones are fresher and more imaginative. Cornwall should have quit at Waterloo. As he fills in the early history and gaps they get very repetertive.
Hornblower was great.Another series of Napoleonic sailors was written by a professor , hero is from one of the channell Isles. Can't remember his name ????
