Those were something, weren't they?!! Mallory & I were on our way home from the library's Summer Reading Program and I was watching this huge (long) dark line or wall of nasty-looking storm clouds approaching from the west and racing it all the way home. It beat me.

Five minutes sooner OR no train sitting on the tracks that we needed to cross, which caused me to detour in the direction toward the storm and we would've made it home dry. I was having this eerie Wizard of Oz feeling as we were trying to get out of the car and into the barn. Mallory couldn't push her car door open because of the rain & wind beating on it and because she was trying to carry her art projects in with her

, while trying to open the door. I'm
screaming at her to leave them in the car and get out and into the barn! And she had the nerve to argue with me! Oh! That child!
I can't believe that we didn't lose power! We always lose power out here! We have no basement, so where were we (well... me

) with my face pressed up to the windows watching. No trees down either for us this time. Amazing & strange. There are several big dead/dying trees that I wish a storm would take down, because we can't afford to pay for someone to come out and cut them down.
I'm glad to hear that your internet is back up and that you are all safe & sound! And that you are on a well-deserved break from school Shel!
