I applied the custom 035a2 FW this am. It took me 3 tries.
The first try I just loaded the extracted files to an SD card and ran the FW upgrade procedure. While it was running I realized that I was suppose to use the original 035a and just overlay the bin with the custom one 035a2. Oh well!
It turns out that the FW update process ended successfully. I had a quick look.
Internal mem went from 112 megs to 90.8 megs. Epub seemed to work but the fonts were not serif and I couldn't see an option to switch fonts within an open book.
I re-ran the FW update using the extra folders from the original 035a but I used the custom bin files. I restarted the FW update process - not knowing if it would work clean. It did.
I rebooted - still unable to change fonts within an open epub book. TOC works great if it exists within the book. I tried authorizing the jetBook with my ADE software - it was not seeing it. Even though the new hidden folder for ADE is there.
Also Settings utilities work except - if I select "Settings" - "System Settings" - Firmware Version it kicks me back to the main menu page.
I decided to re-run the FW update process again only this time I renamed the custom bin file to drop the "2" in the name.
Process worked clean. Runs for approx 10 mins. Then requires a reboot.
This time I tried authorizing the jetBook with my ADE and it saw it and I was able to migrate DRM ePubs to it. So ADE DRM epubs and PDF's work.
PDF does have text flow on/off and TOC support works as well.
FW version option still bounces me out to the main menu.
Epub books look better and include TOCs if they are created within the book.
Still unable to find font switch option within open epub book.
NOTE: I did not realize that font selection was manually altered by modifying the userstyle.css file. I edited it using note pad and modified the line stating what font to use. Now I have serif style fonts with in ePub books.
As for the Aluratek Libre Pro with FW .17 patch 17 - it supports TOCs within PDF files if they exist but it does not give you TOC's within ePub. Everything else is the same w/re to PDF flow and ePub having to be zoomed to increase the font size. I just purchased this unit 2 weeks ago for the PDF flow support.
