You can hook up to Optimum. I just got my Nook last week. If you have wireless router in your house and go to the wifi connect part of your menu, the available wifi show on the LCD, select yours and enter your password for your home wifi and it connects. When out, go to where the optimum wifi spots are listed on their website map - to connect you will see it listed on LCD as wifi services available and be prompted to enter your optimum user name and password. Also I think it will also be easier now that ATandT wireless is also provided on the Nooks.
