I think it's a good idea. Anything that gets folks reading is good in my view. There might be much better devices but sometimes it's about what device you have at the moment. I first read e-books on a Handspring Visor (before color, the old green/black screens).
It'd be better if they used their DSWare — then Nintendo could become another competitor in the e-book market. They could start doing downloadable e-books too. With the millions of DS consoles sold they could jump in with a big installed base.
