Hello, as for me, the solution was to turn it off completely. it's not a big problem to wait less than 30 seconds and to push three times a button to open the last read book.
i push the on/off button when i take the reader from my library and before sitting down on the sofa it's on.
moreover as i usually read for an hour or more, 30 seconds are not really important.
The difference: boox in standby, a new charge every 5 days (+-); boox switched off, a new charge every 15 days (+- without using wifi).
