He actually seemed quite content up there.
But, yes, it was a little on the drastic side. I chalked it up to the age difference between the two -- several years, instead of several months like in Strider and Arwen's case.
I'm sure everything will be fine in a week or two. Strider just needs a little time to get used to having her around, and to realize she's his companion -- not his replacement.
