Anyone who wants some of my homemade icecream (maybe with some Ferrero Rochers crushed into it during the churn) probably wants nasty, runny French custard, and my favourite restaurant's (The Spirit House) semi-bitter chocolate slice isn't complete with some star anise infused nasty, runny French custard.
(I get your point though. I grew up on the stuff you're fond of, and after some comfort dinner of herb-crusted lamb cutlets on mash with gravy, a nice bowl of "English" custard can't be beat

)
