I'm not sure that's a valid excuse. These are men who are paid to do nothing but keep fit and play football. If they can't motivate themselves to play for their country in the World Cup then they should get on the next flight home.
Quite the worst England performance I have ever seen. Inept, inane and pathetic. If Wayne Rooney is one of the best players in the world then I'm digging my boots out and making a comeback; I can't possibly be any worse than he was tonight.
