Well, I can verify from personal experience that the screensaver hack and Ted Leung's font hack will keep Amazon from updating your device through wireless. My K2 has never received an automatic update while the hacks were installed, but inevitably updates with an hour after having them removed when updates are being pushed out over Whispernet. They're in place right now while I wait for an updated font hack, and I'm still on 2.3 (didn't bother removing them for the incremental 2.3.3 update).
For anyone who knows these sorts of things, is there any reason to believe that the new DRM scheme won't be cracked relatively soon? I'm another non Windows user, and though I haven't bothered with removing .azw DRM, it's nice to know the option is there.
