@SensualPoet: You just described me. I have never owned an ereader before and I use it exactly as it was intended: with their software, buying their books. I found it very easy to learn how to use it and the desktop software. Other than the battery life issue, I had no problems. I would definitely recommend the Kobo to other ereader newbies.
