Bah. Now I have to respond. My arguments are probably full of holes, but here goes...

As far as I know, there are no guidelines about giving out karma h_t. It's your choice to hand out as much as you want, to anyone you want and as often as you can.
There just seems to be a glut of karma on the board lately, let's call it karma inflation. The more that's put out, the less it's value. But then again, if it had no value to start with, how can it be devalued? Maybe a bad analogy.
Maybe it's just the growth in membership on this forum. Maybe it's outgrown karma. I dunno.
Maybe were going through a baby boom on the forum and old traditionalist like me can't handle the quantity of milestone posts, and it's time I was put in the old forum home.

I think it is silly if people put that much weight on the stupid thing called karma. Human nature makes people give it importance it does not deserve.
Karma is just a little show of appreciation from other members, a thank you for helping or because someone made you laugh or just because you can. It is probably of no importance to a lot of members. Although there are some exceptions, it didn't used to be something that was bragged about or celebrated, it was just appreciated. If you feel there should be karma milestones celebrated in this thread it is your option to do so. If I find that this thread is excessive in it's karma celebrations, it's my option to ignore it. I tried to say something about how excessive I thought the karma celebrations were in this thread before making any decision to ignore it. I guess I didn't get my point across very well.

Before, this thread would take an entire week before anyone posted on it...maybe we need to define what a milestone is.
That's what I really liked about this thread. When it popped up now and again I knew someone was celebrating a milestone. Threads don't have to be hoppin' all the time to be popular. It's also the top sticky in the lounge; very easy to find if you want to post a milestone, whatever you decide a milestone should be.

Better yet, lets define who the milestones are for. I post 100 times a day. Not spam mind you, but I take part in all of the conversations because my life is sad and I have no where else to be. I dont think I deserve a congrats post once every few days. On top of that, if you post 100 times a day you tend to get karma quicker...more one-liners and jokes to toss at people. I dont think I should get praised for that either.
You can't get karma without posting, and you do a lot of that, so I expect your karma to be high. We'll just have to disagree on whether karma milestones should be posted on this thread. Maybe my life if even sadder than yours, and I'm just trying to hang on to some traditions that don't really exist.

A few of the people on this site actually took a year to get to 1k posts. They have a milestone. So I really do think we should make a list of who the milestones should be for.
In my opinion, I don't think karma milestones belong on the list.

Maybe I'll ask the karma fairy to reset my karma to zero.

There's a lot of maybes in there, but that's all from me on this subject.
