I sadly agree.
Lately, I haven't responded openly in this thread by congratulating milestones -- there're just too many karma milestones which have become meaningless and [to me] seem rather vulgar and gratuitous.
In my opinion this thread has been hijacked by these karma milestones. The original meaning this thread had [to me] has been lost in this constant congratulating and thanking about them. I can appreciate how others might think differently on this matter, a karma milestone is still a milestone, and I know threads can evolve, but I don't like the direction this one has taken and I'm likely to start ignoring it.
I think karma should be a more private matter, like the giving and receiving of it is now. Those small karma messages are the nicest part. It might be a good idea to hide the karma totals similar to the karma fortune.
I guess it all comes down to a personal opinion. I still like giving and receiving karma. I still believe karma should be given to any post you think deserving, but it should be accepted gracefully and without all this fanfare.
