1. A fast and flexible (Boolean, with "near" operator, wildcards, etc.; ideally, an accent-ignoring search would be nice, too, for searching non-English texts, so that 'e' matches 'é', etc.) search system, within a document and across selected or all documents.
2. Annotations and multiple bookmarks, separately searchable/browseable.
3. A fast text input method that makes 1 and 2 painless.
1 and 2 make the reader be better than a physical book in ways other than the mere convenience of not lugging dead trees about.
