It's not the lack of zoom that's the main problem; it's the lack of hyperlink support. Doesn't matter if you're reading short articles, but for a reference book, where hyperlinks are vital for finding the information you're looking for (did I mention that there's no search either?) it's critical.
I think personally that the Neo has pretty good PDF support; I'd be interested to know what you perceive its shortcomings to be.
