Good luck and good feelings to all of you. I found LCF's post very apt

thanks for the concern from all. to be fair, the specific incident i mentioned last night is not at all dangerous nor sinister. i ran into a girl i used to be friends with, whom i'd lost sight of about 15 years ago. i'm not overjoyed because if we haven't seen each other for so long, it's maybe because i didn't really want to be friends with her anymore. but she's not stalking me nor any kind of dangerous criminal. it was just a chance encounter i would have been very happy to avoid for fairly trivial reasons. no need to panic ! of course, there are dangers, and it's important to be aware of your surroundings, particularly as a woman. but, keeping some perspective, *this* is not *that*.
anyway having thought about it more, i'm not too upset about it. sure, i wouldn't have minded avoiding that incident, and i'm not too enthusiastic about possibly seeing her again / getting a call from her to renew acquaintance, but it's not really as bad as all that. she's not the most horrible person i've know, just has a tendency to think she's superior to others which can be tedious. i'll be fine. and yes, lcf is right ! maybe she doesn't judge people so much now, and maybe i won't take it as personally if she does.
