Thanks so much everyone for your input! I have decided to buy the nook, at least to try it out for a while. I'll hold onto the pocketbook as well, for now. (Oddly, I had family over yesterday and today, and my mother, the least tech savvy person I know, feel madly in love with the PocketBook! She liked how simple the interface was, and how unlike a book the device looks, and how light it is, and how pretty it is, and, and and... If I end up carrying the nook around with me all the time instead of leaving it on my nightstand, now I know who gets the PB. If I end up using both, at least I know what to get her for Christmas. I couldn't sell her on the Nook at all. She doesn't care about the online library or visiting the store and reading for free and she didn't like the relative bulk of the Nook, especially if you have to put a cover on it.)
