We don't have them in New York yet. On Long Island, we have a new species of wasp that builds nests underground. Usually in lawns. They go into full rabid attack mode if you go near the nest. The only warning is a low hum. Which no one hears over their lawnmowers. Word is, they've killed a couple of senior citizens, possibly a toddler. They broke out a couple of years ago, but seem to be under control now.

The fire ants only arrived here a couple of years ago. They've been found in some of the public parks and farms. It's only a matter of time until they're in my backyard.
Watch out for those rabid wasps!
