It is part of my job to figure out what can go wrong, and evaluate the risk.

On a risk-adjusted basis, I am obsessive-compulsive (alphabitize my spices, and no, cajun pepper goes under p, not c and not r) and have spent HOURS getting my library just like I want it on Calibre. Last weekend I moved all my books in my library (1200) to my kindle, to see if it would hold them. It did. That was in preparation for 2.5.2. I deleted them, intending to move books into categories one by one. I have figured out my categories, limited them to what will fit on one page. So, I really, really want the upgrade.

But books are sacred to me. I was okay going to electronic books because of the space savings (the basement is full of boxes of read books) if I could keep them forever. Or at least until I read them. But now, I cannot be sure I will be able to read the books I buy. And I am really cheap, and don't want to have to buy them twice. Since once I install the update, I cannot go back, and I buy approximately a book a week, it is really important.

So the risk of there not being a fix is low, but the consequence is devastating. Enjoy 2.5.2 everyone - I will wait.
But you are right....a birth certificate is proof of death...thank entropy.
