Mazer-- I'm 100% on your side.

Here (attached) is one of the templates I use- the text is fairly large with a serif font. I had to compress it as a zip file since this forum does not accept uploads of odt files.

Unzip it, open it in Open Office, delete the sample text, paste in your own text, and export as a pdf with a new name. Make sure pdf is in the dropdown and not fdf. Also, you might have to select-all and use their Times (or other) font- I only happen to have Times New Roman (True Type font) from some add-on I found somewhere, but it does not come with OO Writer.

One other thing, when you read the pdf book on the JBL, press the upper left button and select #2- Full Screen. Otherwise you lose your margins and it cuts halfway into the last line on each page. You should only have to make this selection once.
