Because the setting is such a battery-killer, I decided not to make it permanent. Switching it on only takes a single tap on the shortcut screen after all

I see what you mean, but I'm afraid it would make the GUI too complicated. Also, it would involve quite a bit of menu-coding and screen-coding for comparatively little benefit - so I don't think I will make it a priority. But if I hear many votes to the contrary, I will look at it.
