I just tried this with a PDF to RTF conversion. It works but you have the same limitation with most pdf conversions; there are paragraph marks at the end of each line. The start of a paragraph was indicated by an indent. So, I see no way to do a search/replace to remove the inappropriate paragraph marks while keeping the appropriate ones.
