It's been even longer than 10 yrs since I was in Japan--and back then it was almost all newspapers or manga...once in a while a "cd player" but they were BIG back then. Those were the hot item to own, but not too many people owned or wanted to lug them. Times have changed.

I hear many do some reading on their cell, but I think the majority are probably texting, not reading. Not that I know. I"m just guessing because I haven't been back there in years. I get many emails from my friends there--all via their cell...
