Yes, and a lack of auto answer has the effect that "they did not answer you". I think I suggested an auto answer in one of my first email to them as a very cheap easy to enhance support.
Personally I would look in my saved sent emails to see if I typed the address correctly. Or I would just re-send the email being more careful. If I wanted faster support I would call them. So it does not sound plausible that the only reason you called them was that you might have mis-typed the address.
