I guess I'm thinking of the model of various instructional books about programing and such (think o'reilly, or sams teach yourself). These books usually have vast amounts of their content either online or on a cd enclosed with the book. Of course, that is an aid to the person learning to program, so they don't have to type in all the examples in the books by hand (although I've found that to be good experience.) But the book is still only $20, cheaper than the latest, apparently unedited fiction book I downloaded from connect.
