Calling all cars! Calling all cars" Be on the lookout for idiots!

This isn't really a rant, more of a pet peeve.

At work we often use hand radios to communicate. We aren't police, rescue workers, or truckers. So why is it that every time you stick a walkie-talkie under an otherwise perfectly normal person's nose, suddenly they feel as if they can no longer speak normally without channeling their inner Dick Tracy? It's like they all think they're in a convoy or something. They can no longer answer "yes" or "no" to a question; it must be "10-4", "negative", or "roger that!" The most irritating reply is "That's a roger!" No, it isn't! Roger Moore, Roger Bacon, and Roger Rabbit are Rogers! Why is it all of a sudden you've lost the ability to communicate in English? Why say, "What's your 20," when you want to know someone's location? Are you Car 54 or something? Even their boss simply asked, "Where are you?" when he wanted to find them.

After I retire, I hope to never again hear another irritating phrase in radioese. I may indeed off the first sucker who says, "10-4" in my presence!

That's all I got. Over and out, good buddies!
