I can fit my PRS-505 in the back pocket of every pair of pants I've ever worn. So the portability is the killer app for me. I can have it with me at all times, without much fuss, no bags, no cases, much like a paperback book. I'd imagine that I'd need a backpack for an iPad, make sure that it's charged up before I head out somewhere, etc. It's hard enough for me to keep my Droid charged.

So that makes the iPad nice for reading at home. But I already have a ThinkPad with a much better resolution that I could use instead. And for that matter, there are many tablet PCs that double as laptops, which provide more options as far as plugs, webcams, etc, but pretty much the same functionality.

Well, except maybe fore the cute page turn animations and great presentation that Apple is known for.
