I have nothing to compare it to, but I do love my Jetbook Lite.
I got it because:
- it takes 4x AA batteries, and lasts for approx. 24 hours of on-time, which translates to weeks, just like the Kindle.
- the screen isn't e-ink at all, just a non-backlit LCD; faster refresh rate, [supposedly] better contrast ratio than e-ink, & cheaper cost because of it.
- the button layout is extraordinary; easy button for manual screen rotation, 0-9 keypad for super quick folder/book selection (feels like you've got a touchscreen), and 3 different page up/down switches, plus the menu function key which leads you to the dictionary, translator, font sizes, etcetera.
- displays just about any ebook format without a hitch, and even displays PDFs great in landscape mode!!
- and the best part is that you can get one for $100 every once in awhile. this allows you to save more money for the next generation of eReaders, or my personal favorite.... the newly announced Eee Tablet.
I picked up my Jetbook Lite for $115 after bing cashback. And just a sidenote... I really regret not buying a case for it, because I have this tiny scratch on the screen that is extremely irritating.
I really wish the OP of this thread would pick one up and compare to the e-ink screens. There's no reason at all that anyone should consider another eReader over the Jetbook Lite.... well, at least not a
good reason.
I'm not sure why anybody after a PDF reader would look anywhere else. This thing is pocketable, trims off the whitespace around the sides/top/bottom of PDFs, and auto-zooms into the width after trimming that whitespace... so that the PDFs look brilliant when in landscape mode. BRILLIANT!!!
Why spend more than $100 on an eBook reader?
