For those of us who need to read one-handed (public transport commute, while nursing a baby) weight and ergonomics are very important. Weight is also an issue for those who are used to reading on PDAs or smartphones. The nook weighs almost 3x as much as an iPhone.
I just sold my PRS-700 because holding by the bottom and using the buttons was too unwieldy and gave me hand cramps.
I was all set to get a Nook this weekend, until I found the buttons were not great for one-handed use given the weight of the device. If the upper page button was the forward button, I could make it work because I could hold it in the middle ad distribute the weight evenly. But since the lower buttons are page forward, it makes it top heavy. (According to the B&N rep, I couldn't switch the button functions in settings).
And that is without adding a clip lamp for night time reading. That can add another 1-5 oz to the top, depending on the light.
I was interested in the Kobo because of its light weight, but the blue button on the right makes that a no-go - I need to be able to switch hands.
