Nope, not paranoid, just a good mom. When my son was young and we were in airports around the world, we had a trick.
Since it was just me and him, I would stand by the door and pretend to be a grumpy mom and tell him he had only 1 minute to be in and out or I was coming in after him. I also would call out the time every 20 seconds.
****psst... you know what was the hardest part about this? I couldn't use the restroom because I couldn't leave him alone while I went.
