Nah... Pygmy eggplants are the Thai ones. They are round, a bit smaller than the size of ping pong balls, and colored like green watermelons. The people sized eggplants are for making large vats of ratatouille for disaster drills or punk-rock raves using just one eggplant.

The Japanese eggplants (despite being purple, which by the way is the same color as good wine grapes... ) have wonderful taste, very tender even with quick cooking, 2"-3" long about about 1" in diameter, but are a bit too tender for making a good ratatouille. I need a couple of the ostrich-egg sized eggplants for dinner tonight!
