B&N does not use Adobe ADEPT DRM. Instead, B&N epubs are password protected (with the username and password based on your credit card). However, all is not lost, see
Barnes & Noble DRM for EPUB circumvented.
Note that you may also get a .pdb file instead of a .epub. In that case the ebook is in eReader format, which is also circumventable and I suggest looking on Apprentice Alf's Blog for the latest info.
