Nah, you really have to make a point (so to say) with your finger. If you lay it on a flat finger, instead of your finger top, you won't see it. I mostly see it when I turn it to sleep and don't have it in its cover. Because at that point, I'll really push the back of the device (you know, to keep a good grip on it).
I know the 400Mhz processor of the JE100 is slower than the 500 I have on my Loox
Beyond that, I've no idea how it would compare to other devices
