Is the firmware updates that really "fix" the CE OS something that can still be sourced from those of you nice folks here who have the updated to fix it ?

Also, exactly how does the Windows CE work (card only, dual boot, right on the internal memory, etc)? I'd be more interested in having the device boot straight to Windows CE and forget their own interface.

Here's what I've been looking for and haven't been able to find (hoping JE100 may fit the bill). I'm apparently the only one on the planet, but I simply want a new big-screen, fresh processor, big memory, tablet version of my beloved, dying 2003 or so era Toshiba PocketPC e-310, lol. You know, when Pocket PCs weren't phones-only.

What I mean is I want a full Windows CE-based, NON-PHONE, in tablet form factor. I'm a developer, so ability to install apps, and develop my own custom apps targeting the .NET Compact Framework is big on my list. I want to just be able to install and activesynch like I've always done with my old fashioned PocketPC.

So this Android stuff doesn't interest me, smart phones don't interest me, and the nice sized screened pmps with Windows CE and a custom GUI wrapper that prevents you from getting at and actually using Windows CE are also not of interest since you can't customize them.
I know exactly what you mean! Because that's what I was looking for as well. The JE100 fits all but one of my wants. The only drawback is the speed of its processor. It isn't the fasted device out there. But, it's something I can live with, as I mostly use it for simple applications anyway.

You can work the device without any card installed. The WinCE works directly from main memory. There is a dual boot, but this can be "turned off". As I usually don't reset my device, I'm not too bothered with that.

ActiveSync also works without problems. As I generally have to "guest" it, I've not made use of syncing outlook and such (I found out, the hard way, that you can only register two devices with ActiveSync! The third will completely ruin AS, and I had to de-install and re-install before I got it to work again )
