Well, there is a lot of money in the oil market, and there probably will be for some time. If someone did announce a discover of "Free Energy" it would have to be made in a very, very public manner and he would probably need a large security team for sure, but it wouldn't revolutionize anything for at least 50(note: this is an OOAN) years. I say this because it takes time to manufacture methods of using this "free energy" and it takes money to buy these things. And some people just like what they know, so such a thing would be amazing, but it would take a while to catch on.
