Sorry for you! Hope it's not too painful...
When accidents are bound to happen, no amount of prevention can suffice. But... As an act of precaution, I leave protection equipment with any tool or product requiring it. I have cheap eye protection in a plastic bag right next to chlorine and paint solvents etc.
Let's just say that from now on you're likely to have a
fresh view on that kind of a situation...
