Keep an eye out for the Notion Ink Adam (I'm pretty sure that's its correct name). It has a display that can be switched to a mode that's readable in daylight and apparently behaves like e-ink, but it can also act as a straight-up tablet with multi-touch capabilities. It will also not suffer from the Big Brother problems that come with with any Apple product.
