In response to this earlier post, I had a better look at the Nook

I am no expert but it does display ADE and non DRM'ed EPUB books as per link below

But the buy it now and wirelessly DL is the same as the Kindle, being linked to the parent store.

Calibre would allow you to get the books you choose to it though.

The Kobo though to my mind is a better deal cost and availability wise though. Glad you have gone down that path. I love my little PRS-300 but had to go through a few hoops to obtain one. Adding books via Calibre is a breeze so as far as I am concerned there is no loss of flexibility at all!
