Hello from Scotland

Hello, everyone. My name is Richard and I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland.

I hummed and hawed for over a year about getting an e-reader; I think I was waiting for the technology to mature a bit, but I read every review and peoples' impressions of their readers on the net and forums like here.

So this week I bought the PRS-600 - I was sold on its ability to annotate, and the built-in dictionary.

Everything works seamlessly so far: I don't use the Reader software but just drag & drop using Explorer on my netbook. I've had to convert some .html files to .pdf, but this was easy using a free converter and I'm impressed with the Sony's formatting.

I'm pretty impressed with the mp3 player, also; I own a few mp3 players and can report that the Sony does sound very good albeit with no EQ options. I probably won't use it too often bearing in mind the likely battery hit, but with a 16Gb SD card it will be nice to have a few tunes as well as some audiobooks on there.

I like all sorts of fiction, poetry and I have reference books and encyclopedias as well as my 100 free classics already loaded up on there.

I think forums like this are great and look forward to participating and learning more from other members about the technology, reading choices and any potential problems - as well as having a lot of fun
