An update. Still have my Aluratek. Had a good discussion with customer support (Peter Demonteverde) concerning a couple of problems in using it -- particularly those which result from pdf files of texts that were originally scanned. I find that sometimes I can read texts in multiple columns by zooming into a size larger than the page and then using arrows around OK to move text to left and right, but that it's hit and miss as to how to activate this feature. Contrary to a number of criticisms, I find the slider on the left the most used among several ways to turn pages and am happy it is there. Unfortunately, I have not yet received replies to a couple of other queries to the helpdesk posted on May 21 (despite promise of doing so within 24 hours). One concerns how to obtain listings of e-book by author as well as by title, the other about if it is possible and, if so, how to edit titles in Aluratek. All in all, as with all devices, the Aluratek e-reader is going to demand some patience as a product at low end of price range and at beginning of development of e-readers, but will my serve my needs well for something to lessen the weight of suitcases on trips.
