Unfortunately very few people read the Wealth of Nations (the book on which our economic system has been based). (And to be completely honest I've had the book for a year now and haven't been able for force my way through it.) However, there is a very important bit in there, towards the beginning, where it talks about the moral responsibilities of the people in charge, as well as the moral responsibilities of the customers. Essentially, as a business owner you should hold yourself accountable to your most faithful clientele, not the customers who will only stay for a while. And as a client, you shouldn't spend your money somewhere that does not hold beliefs you disagree with. In that way, the majority consumer is in control of the market.
