I agree. I'm not one to wait in line, but plenty of people wait for big movies to open, Harry Potter books to debut and such. Note the lines at Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring movies, for instance. Does it matter if you read a Harry Potter book the moment it's released? Sure, to some people. They get enthused about things they enjoy, often want it asap and want to share the atmosphere with other fans.
Personally, crowds and lines detract from my enjoyment, so I'd rather delay gratification if a line is involved. I don't begrudge people their individual pleasures, though.
