10 is the "magic" starting number. The number will go up as people give you more -- so you should shortly have 20 (or more) points. If you click on the "User CP" (User Control Panel) in the dark blue band towards the top of the page, you'll see who has given you Karma, and the little remarks they may have left with it.
There is a quirk about only being able to give even numbers of points, so you'll only ever have an even number of Karma points; if that is an issue, as one of the moderators here would say, Get over it.
