I believe in using the proper tool for the job. Guaranteeing data safety is the job of backups. There is no way that a program that has write access to any file can ever guarantee data safety.

I think you are mixing two things backup of actual files and the backup of database file that is lost because of some error.
That is what he is asking something that would back it up so he won't have to re add the whole library and all the metadata changes back to calibre.
I also asked for a similar thing few months back you said it would add a lot of
reading and writing to the disk so will slow down calibre.
