ereader applications
I saw that there are various SDK (software development kits) for ereaders out there and wondered what languages they are programmed in? is it C or Java perhaps? Are the existing applications for various ereaders (pocketbook, bebook etc) programmed in these base languages or are they some sort of active web page that just happens to run in webkit?
If a program was written for one SDK would it work on another type of reader? If the answer is no then is there any movement to standardise the interface? This would obviously benefit owners who might want a given app, it would also give a wider audience to developers and might encourage better applications. Are there any books or sites that people could recommend for developing on these devices?
It's just I quite like a quiet game of chess but if the programs are written in flash etc then chances are they will play very poorly. If it's C etc then even a slow processor should provide a good enough game.
