I'm actually happy it turned around that way. I had a very hard week at university/work and it would have really sucked if I were ill too. Now I can hug the sofa and hang around in the llounge

Alpha agonists bind to the alpha receptors in cells and mimic the action of adrenaline. Which, when applied locally (like in nasal spray) is to constrict the blood vessels. The effect is - your swollen nose is not swollen anymore and you feel like reborn for the next 2-10 hours.
