At least in forums, I think people get defensive about <insert product name> because
A) They don't have one but really want one but can't quite justify the cost so they're trying to convince themselves why they "really" don't want one
B) They have one and spent the money and it's too late to return now and have to justify the cost
C) Some people really do like it and just have no toleration of other peoples' views and posting on a forum makes them somehow feel more powerful at least in the virtual anonymous world. i.e., they wouldn't be getting into troll wars live with other people!!
