What flicker are you referring to? An eInk screen doesn't flicker - it's an absolutely static image.
Are you referring to the screen inverting between pages? If so, you're the first person I've come across who finds it objectionable. I honestly don't even see it any more - within half an hour of starting to use the Reader, my brain just completely "edited it out".
Interesting how different people perceive these things differently, isn't it?
You might want to edit your profile, by the way - I think you've put your telephone number in the public field that's intended to show people what type of eBook reader you have.
