To be pedantic, in TNG, it was ``synthohol'', w/ Synth-Ale being a specific drink which used it.
That said, there'll be people fermenting/brewing/distilling and drinking alcohol for so long as there are people.
Now if only I could find some Syrian Panther Sweat....
